What Are the Disadvantages of Using 304 Stainless Steel?

Can 304 and 316 stainless be used together?

304 and 316 stainless steel can be combined for dry indoor environments without severe corrosion risks since they have similar electrochemical potentials, but mixed assembly is not suggested for coastal, salty or damp working conditions-304 will act as the anode and corrode much faster when electrolyte such as saltwater connects the two metals; if mixing them is unavoidable outdoors, add insulating plastic gaskets between contact areas, while using identical stainless grades for all hardware remains the most reliable long-term choice.
